The Job Report table profiles the base salary, total cash and incentive data of a specific job. Users may display salary data by experience/size or by level.
To Display Salaries by Years or Experience or Organization Size
Select the Salaries by Experience/Size sub-tab.
To Display Salaries by Level
See Salaries by Level.
When displaying salaries by experience/size, the table has five columns of salary range data for five different years of experience (or for five different organization sizes for executive jobs) and for salary range. The defaults for years of experience are entry (one year), maturity maximum (the highest number of years that an employee typically works in this job, based on census data), the mid-point of entry and maximum, plus the second and fourth quintile. Through data analysis, ERI determines the maximum years of experience for each job, and then reports the All Incumbent Average at the mid-point between one year of experience and maximum years of experience. You may also select any years experience within the total range. For instance, if the default for an Accountant displays 1 - 4 - 8 - 12 - 16, you may change the view to display additional pay levels at 5 years experience, 9 years experience, etc. The center value (mean or median at middle tenure or size), along with the associated standard error and size/experience variable, are the real dollar values stored in the Salary Assessor databases.
Salaries may be reported by level in the Job Report, Benchmark List, and Advanced Reports. Salaries reported by level are based on matching ERI Survey Descriptions with job/survey descriptions of available salary survey sources. The analysis for Salaries by Level uses the same sources as the Salaries by Experience/Size page, but the data are analyzed based on differences in level within the underlying surveys instead of differences in years of experience. For more information about levels, see the Definition of Levels topic. These definitions are displayed when the cursor is placed over Level 1/2/3 Base Salaries (in the All Incumbents column) and are printed at the bottom of the Salaries by Level report.
Salary Table
The salary table illustrates the competitive norm data for the selected job. The salaries shown in this table are adjusted by the organization data shown in the Organization Data field on the left. If the job in question is sensitive to industry, time, geographic area, or organizational size, it is imperative that the user adjust the program's basic size and area dimensions.

Note: The Job Report allows the user to analyze ERI Jobs, Jobs by Industry, Hybrid Jobs, and Internal Jobs (see Filters). Enhanced subscriptions that include the My Organizations feature allow users to match their internal job titles to ERI job titles in saved internal job lists. Modifications to Internal Jobs must be made in My Organizations.

The Salary Assessor produces two projections for each job: (1) one that is unadjusted (a national value) and (2) the fully adjusted estimate varied by industry, size, geographic area, and time. Because of this, the Salary Assessor contains the Organization Data field with inputs specific to the organization in which the jobs exist. To assist a quick review, it displays the last inputted data upon startup. Enter information concerning the subject organization in this field including the organization name, if desired.
Other adjustments may include:
Browse or search for areas in the Salary Assessor database or create a user-defined average. See Browse Areas.
For industry-specific jobs, the selection of an industry code will also alter the resulting estimates of the Salary Assessor. The application automatically displays an eSIC industry description based on the code selected. To determine the appropriate eSIC number use the Browse function. See Search Industries.
Note: For jobs that only exist in a single industry, the industry is automatically assigned by ERI in the read-only Sector field.
Analysis Based on
The organization size type displayed below Analysis Based on defaults to Revenue. However, Assets or Fiscal Year Budget (FYB) can be selected depending on the industry selected, with # of Employees also available for any industry. The industry selection (e.g., eSIC code) will often affect the organization size type choices available. For example, some Finance industries, such as Depository Institutions (eSIC 6000), will be reported by Asset size, with # of Employees also available. Public Education (eSIC 9800) will be reported by Fiscal Year Budget or # or Employees, so both of these options are available in the Organization Data field when using this eSIC code. See Change Organization Size.
All executive/director-level jobs, as well as the "Controller" job, are reported by Organization Size (Revenue, Assets, Fiscal Year Budget, and # of Employees). Jobs below the executive/director level are reported by Years of Experience, but ERI has added the ability to analyze these jobs by a second variable, Revenue (for example), due to an increase in the volume of data collected. Check the box to Include revenue in the analysis of lower level jobs* to factor Organization Size (Revenue, Assets, FYB, or # of Employees) into the calculation of salary data for jobs measured by years of experience, if desired.
The "Planning Date" is initially set to the computer's system date, or today's date. If this date does not equal the "Database Date," a non-zero Annualized Salary Trend will display. (Only differences greater than or equal to one month have an effect.) All salaries will be adjusted by this percentage to reflect the increase or decrease of salaries due to time. This prorated percentage is compounded monthly. To nullify these adjustments, set the Planning Date to the "Data as of" date. The source of the default annualized salary trend value is ERI's Salary Increase Survey & Forecast.
Please note: When any of the top six executive titles is chosen, the default Annualized Salary Trend is not used to trend the data forward or backward; the application uses actual public data to trend it. In this case, the Annualized Salary Trend in Organization Data will display "data driven," and the Adjust button will not appear below the Annualized Salary Trend field.
Also note: The Salary Assessor reports the most recently available data. When you set the Planning Date back in time, the application trends the most recent data to the selected date. It does not pull data from a historical database.
Salary Graph
The Salary Graph graphically profiles a job so the user can, at a glance, understand how a salary continuously changes as the organization size changes. The Salary Graph will reflect the Compensation Type and Pay Period selected.
Job Descriptions
For each job, ERI provides a Survey Description, eDOT Description, Adjustments, and Job Characteristics. See Survey Description for more information.
