Shift Work

The Shift Work adjustment allows the user to apply a day, evening, or swing shift differential to the selected job. Depending on the Shift Type associated with the selected job, there may be no increase in compensation, a salary increase based on ERI's research, or a custom hourly adjustment assigned by the user.

To Apply a Shift Adjustment

1.Select a job title.

2.In the Job Report, Benchmark List, Geographic List, OR Total Compensation, click the Adjust button in the Adjustments tab of the Survey Description OR the Adjust button below Adjustments in the Organization Data panel in Job Report, Geographic List, or Total Compensation to open the Adjustments dialog.

In the Benchmark List OR Advanced Reports, click the Adjust button for the selected job in the Adjustments column of the main table to open the Adjustments dialog.

In the Employee List (in Compensation Management), click Adjust in the Edit Employee dialog to open the Adjustments dialog.

In Survey Management, click Adjust in the Required Adjustments field of the Edit Job dialog when adding an Internal Job from Market Pricing OR Individual Job - Market Pricing to open the Adjustments dialog.

3.In the Shift Work field, select one of these shifts:

Day shift

Evening shift

Swing shift

4.Click on the Shift Type field to view the assigned adjustment (read-only) associated with the shift work for the selected job:

No change signals that ERI has not found a change in compensation for the given shift.  These shifts are associated with zero salary increase when applied to a given job.

Premium signals that ERI has found a change in compensation for the given shift.  These shifts increase compensation when applied to a given job. The salary increase rate is not customizable.

Custom shifts are not currently associated by ERI with the selected job.  Users may add these shifts and apply an hourly adjustment as desired.

5.To customize a shift adjustment, click on Custom: $0.00/hr in the Shift Type column and change the hourly value.

6.To display the default, click Reset to Default.  This will remove any shifts displayed for the selected job.

7.Click the check box in the Applied column to select the shift and the associated adjustment.

8.Click OK to apply your adjustment and return to the main table.  In the Job Report, Geographic List, OR Total Compensation, the Adjustments field in the Organization Data panel will display Applied next to Shift Work to indicate that a Shift adjustment was made.
