To assist with planning or auditing pay for multiple jobs at one area, the Benchmark List table enables you to enter and view salaries for up to 3,000 jobs in one area. This allows you to view a list of benchmark or key jobs with ERI calculated salaries and compare your current pay practice to local market pricing calculations. Users may share their entire Organization profile (including all benchmark job lists) with users under the same account.
1.To select a new job from the database, click the button to open the Browse Jobs dialog.
2.To change a job already displayed in the table, click the selected job and either begin typing the name of the job you are looking for and select the desired job listed OR click the Browse button to open the Browse Jobs dialog.
3.See Survey Description for more information about job descriptions.
To Import a Job List
See Import Jobs
Note: The Benchmark List allows the user to analyze a benchmark list of ERI Jobs, Jobs by Industry, Hybrid Jobs, and Internal Jobs (see Filters). Enhanced subscriptions that include the My Organizations feature allow users to match their internal job titles to ERI job titles in saved internal job lists. Modifications to Internal Jobs must be made in My Organizations; the Benchmark List only allows for the editing of Actual Salary for Internal Jobs.
To Import an Internal Job List
See Add Internal Jobs to an Organization
Geographic Area
To select an area, browse or search for areas OR create a user-defined average. See Browse Areas.
Note: If the user selects a new area and there are jobs in the Benchmark List table that are not available for the chosen area, then the user is given the option to return to the previously selected area OR remove jobs that are not available for the chosen area.
Note: Enhanced editions will include a Data Availability column in the Browse Areas dialog (in either the ERI Areas or Internal Areas tab) displaying the area as either a Primary Geographic Database or Extended Geographic Database location. There may be limited details available for locations in the Extended Geographic Database; more details may be available for locations in the Primary Geographic Database. For more information about the jobs and areas available in your subscription level, please contact ERI.

Low/Medium/High
The Benchmark List table now allows for the reporting of salaries by level (for non-executive jobs) or organization size (for director and executive jobs) when a location in the Extended Geographic Database is selected (see Browse Areas). When Levels is selected in Modify Percentiles, then Low/Medium/High columns are displayed. For non-executive jobs, Low/Medium/High represents Levels 1/2/3. For director and executive jobs, Low/Medium/High represents Small, Medium/Large, Large/Very Large organization size.
See Definition of Levels.
For additional definitions of terms, please see the Glossary of Compensation and Benefits Terms.
Analysis Type
When Levels is selected in Modify Percentiles, then the Analysis Type column is displayed and indicates Levels (for non-executive jobs) OR Size (for director and executive jobs). This column is only displayed when a location in the Extended Geographic Database is selected (see Browse Areas).
1.Your present pay for each job may be entered in this column for direct market comparisons. Depending on the Compensation Type selected, this column may be displayed as Actual Salary, Actual Incentive, or Actual Total Cash.
2.See Pay Period for other possible adjustments (i.e., annual, hourly, etc.).
3.To change the Actual Salary value, click the selected job and enter a new value in the Actual Salary column.
Actual Salary divided by the Mean for comparison, competitive analysis and adjustment purposes.
These analyses allow the quick review of an organization or division's competitive pay job within the marketplace. This is also called "market pricing" or, in Canada, a "target range of market prices."
Default Experience
This value represents the median years of experience for the selected job. The years of experience used to calculate compensation estimates can be customized by the user in the Experience drop-down menu. By default, the Default Experience column is not displayed in the Benchmark List. To display the Default Experience column, modify Choose Columns.
Adjustments
The Adjustments column allows the user to modify the Education level, apply a Skills premium, add Certifications, and/or add Shift Work for the selected job. Users can stack up to three certifications and three skills per job.

Please note: A job may either be organization size-sensitive (revenue, assets, fiscal year budget, or # of employees) or experience-sensitive (years of experience or level), depending on the industry. For those jobs that are experience sensitive, ERI has added the ability to analyze salaries by a second variable, revenue, due to an increase in the volume of data collected.
