Benchmark List Background

Methodology/Disclaimer

To assist with planning or auditing pay for multiple jobs at one area, the Benchmark List allows users to analyze salaries for up to 500 jobs in one area in a single table. This enables you to view a list of benchmark jobs with ERI calculated salaries and compare your current pay practice to local market pricing calculations.

The Mean/Median salary is adjusted by time, organization size (e.g., revenue or # of employees), industry, and geographic area, providing a "best estimate" of what a true market value might be.  See Organization Data to modify the geographic area, industry, organization size, and/or salary planning date.

Mean/Median

This column displays ERI's local market base salary for the specified job, as well as the geographic area, industry, size, and salary planning dates specified under Organization Data.

Actual Salary

1.Enter present pay for each job in this column for direct market comparisons.  Depending on the Compensation Type selected, this column may be displayed as Actual Salary, Actual Incentive, or Actual Total Cash.  See Pay Period for other possible adjustments (i.e., annual, hourly, etc.).

2.To change the Actual Salary value, click on the selected job and enter a new value in the Actual Salary column.  This will recalculate the Market Index.

Market Index

This equals the Actual Salary divided by the Mean (and multiplied by 100) for comparison, competitive analysis, and adjustment purposes.
