Add Areas to Profile

Profile allows you to create a list of areas by either manually adding areas OR importing a list of areas.

 

To Manually Add Areas to a Profile

1.In Profile, click Create New Profile OR select an existing Profile.

2.Navigate to the Areas sub-tab.

3.Click Create New List and enter a unique name for the area list.

4.Click Add Area to open the Browse Areas dialog.

5.Use one of these tools to select an area:

Search ERI Areas by Area Name OR Postal Code.  Use Filters to limit the area list.

Perform a Radius Search.  

Create a User-Defined Average.

Browse by Region.

6.Once you have selected an area, click OK and return to Profile.

 

To Import Areas to a Profile

To import areas to a Profile, first create a list of areas using a program like Microsoft Excel and save it as a .CSV (comma delimited) file.  ERI provides users with a .CSV file template to simplify the upload process.  If you attempt to upload another file format, then this message is displayed: "We currently only support '.csv' file format for upload."  Follow the steps below to create and import a .CSV file.

 

To Create a .CSV File

1.In Profile, navigate to the Areas sub-tab.

2.Click the button to download and save a .CSV file template.

3.Open the .CSV file template using a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel.

4.Fill out the template.  Required columns are designated with an asterisk (*). A maximum of 500 areas is allowed.

5.Once the table is complete, give the file a unique name (different from the template file name) and save the file in a .CSV (comma delimited) format.  Close the .CSV file.

 

To Import a .CSV File

1.In Profile, click Create New Profile OR select an existing Profile.

2.Navigate to the Areas sub-tab.

3.Click Upload to open the Upload Areas dialog.

4.Enter the name to be used to save this list.

5.If you are creating a new profile, select Create a new list.

6.If you are using an existing profile, select Append to currently selected list.

7.Click Browse to select a file in the .CSV format and then click Open.   Then click Upload.  

8.In the Upload list from file dialog, the rows that have been successfully imported are displayed.

9.Click OK to return to Profile.

 

To Edit an Individual Area

1.Click next to the selected ERI Area.

2.In the Browse Areas dialog, use one of these tools to edit the area:

Search ERI Areas by Area Name OR Postal Code.  Use Filters to limit the area list.

Perform a Radius Search.  

Create a User-Defined Average.

Browse by Region.

3.Once you have edited the area, click OK and return to Profile.

 

To Delete an Individual Area

Click next to the selected ERI Area.

 

To Rename an Area List

1.Select the saved area list.

2.Click Rename.

3.Enter a new name and click OK.

 

To Delete an Area List

1.Select the saved area list.

2.Click Delete.

3.Confirm the deletion by clicking OK.

 

Note: The only Profile that can be used in Compensation Management and Survey Management is the My Organization profile, which may contain various Areas and Jobs lists.  If additional profiles are created, they may be used in the Job Report, Benchmark List, Geographic List, and Advanced Reports.
