To Create a User-Defined Average Based on Cities Within a Radius of Another City
1. | From the Two City Comparison table: Click the Base City or Destination City column header on the table. |
From the Comparison List - Labor or Comparison List - COL table: Click the Base City table header or a cell in the Comparison City column. |
2. | In the Select Area screen, click the Radius Search button at the bottom of the window. |
3. | In the Cities in a Radius screen, you may select several or all cities within a user-specified distance from a specified city in order to Create a User-Defined Average. |
4. | Begin typing the name of the city, and an area list automatically appears. Continue typing until the city you want is highlighted, or scroll down the list and click on the desired city. |
5. | Enter the maximum distance (in miles or kilometers) from the selected city and click the Search button. |
6. | The Cities in a Radius screen now displays all cities found that are the selected distance from the specified city. |
7. | To Create a User-Defined Average, click the New User-Defined Average button. Enter a unique name for the new user-defined average and click OK to return to the Cities in a Radius screen. |
8. | Select several or all areas listed using one of these three techniques: |
•Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while clicking a second city to select all cities between the first and the second selected cities.
•Right-click your mouse button and drag to select multiple cities.
•Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while selecting a second city to add that city only.
9. | Click OK to return to the Select Area screen. |
10. | The Select Area screen now displays your new user-defined average in a list filtered for User-Defined Averages. Select the new average and click the OK button. |
To Add Multiple Areas to the Comparison List tables Using Cities Within a Radius of Another City
1. | From the Comparison List - Labor or Comparison List - COL table: Click the Base City table header or a cell in the Comparison City column. |
2. | In the Select Area screen, click the Radius Search button at the bottom of the window. |
3. | In the Cities in a Radius screen, begin typing the name of the city and an area list automatically appears. Continue typing until the city you want is highlighted, or scroll down the list and click on the desired city. |
4. | Enter the maximum distance (in miles or kilometers) from the selected city and click the Search button. |
5. | The Cities in a Radius screen now displays all cities found that are the selected distance from the specified city. |
6. | Click on a single area or select multiple areas using one of these three techniques: |
•Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while clicking a second city to select all cities between the first and the second selected cities.
•Right-click your mouse button and drag to select multiple cities.
•Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while selecting a second city to add that city only.
7. | Click OK to return to the Select Area screen. |
8. | The Select Area screen now has all those areas you selected in the Cities in a Radius screen highlighted. Select any additional areas desired using the Ctrl key on your keyboard (described in step 6 above). |
9. | Click the OK button to enter these areas in the Comparison List - Labor or Comparison List - COL table. |
Please note that distance between cities is determined using latitude and longitude and is typically a city center (post office location) to city center comparison.
