Minimum Wage Background

ERI's Minimum Wage application provides current minimum wage rates and scheduled updates for the United States and Canada.  The Minimum Wage application includes four sub-tabs:

United States — includes minimum wage rates for each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, with data for major cities and counties, as available.

Canada — includes minimum wage rates for each of the provinces in Canada.

State Minimum Threshold — includes the minimum salary thresholds required to qualify for exemption from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that took effect on January 1, 2020, in the United States. For more information on the recent rule changes, see ERI's white paper, "FLSA: Federal Overtime Laws to Change in 2020."

Pay Transparency — includes local and state pay transparency rules for the United States.

Note: Minimum wage rates that are specific to an organization are not included.
