Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION:  If I set the automobile assumptions to Number Owned: 0, Total Value: 0, and Miles/Year: 0, why is there still an expense displayed in the Transportation row of the table?

The Geographic Assessor assumes that there are some business and personal travel expenses even in situations where the employee does not own a car or when automobile expenses are covered separately by the employer.  These expenses may include airline travel, public transportation, train fare, use of taxis, etc.  Some subscribers will "zero out" the transportation expenses all together, but you may notice that this has a minimal effect on the total cost-of-living differential.
