QUESTION: Where do the numbers for salaries and wages come from?
ERI Economic Research Institute was founded over 35 years ago to provide compensation applications for private and public organizations. ERI compiles the most robust salary, cost-of-living, and executive compensation survey data available, with updated market data on 19,000 jobs across over 1,000 industries based on data from over 2.7 million organizations and 11.1 million employees. Data are analyzed using AI and traditional statistics, depending on which approach is best for a particular application. ERI’s published data are derived from five fundamental sources:
•ERI’s Salary Surveys – ERI conducts industry-specific and job function compensation surveys, as well as a benefits survey, of HR departments to capture current market rates. For more information, please see www.erieri.com/surveys.
•Customer HRIS Data – Customer integrations with HRIS systems provide a consistent stream of updated compensation data.
•ERI's Digitization of Public Records – ERI leases data and digitizes public records documenting executive compensation for publicly traded and nonprofit organizations, including SEC 8-Ks, 10-Ks, proxies, annual reports, Forms 5500, Forms 990/EZ/PF, information circulars, etc.
•Purchased Survey Data – ERI purchases salary survey data from other salary survey firms, which further increase ERI’s data volume.
•Proprietary Databases – ERI captures compensation data from HR departments through a variety of portals, which flow into ERI’s databases.
