The Geographic Assessor earnings differentials are based upon comparison of benchmark jobs, while costs differentials are benchmarked at six income levels. Currently, the US National Average cost of living (not wage/salary) benchmark assumptions are:
US $ Minimum Wage
Assume a single, minimum wage earner, with no automobile, living with roommates, while contributing partial rent (assume 23.4% or less of income spent on housing costs).
US $ 36,000
Assume a family size of two, holding one or more jobs, with one automobile, and renting an apartment (1,240 square feet/115 square meters)
US $ 48,000
Assume a family size of two, one or more jobs, one automobile, and renting a two bedroom home (1,560 square feet/139 square meters).
US $ 72,000
Assume a family size of three, two jobs, two automobiles, and renting a 2,200 square foot residence with three bedrooms and a two car garage.
US $ 108,000
Assume a family size of four, two jobs, two automobiles, and renting a 2,289 square foot residence with three bedrooms and a two car garage.
US $ 144,000
Assume a family size of four, two jobs, two automobiles, and renting a 2,378 square foot residence with three bedrooms and a two car garage.
